Advanced Genomics miGene™ technology is based on pharmacogenomics—the study of how genes affect a person’s response to medicines. miGene™ was developed in the Advanced Genomics clinical laboratory and is based on technology of collaborators from world renowned medical centers such as, Johns Hopkins University, UT Health Science Center, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Penn State Medical Center.
miGene™ is a genetic test that helps healthcare providers take a personalized approach to prescribing medicine for patients.
Because genes influence the way a person’s body responds to specific medications, the medications may not work the same for everyone. Using DNA gathered with a simple cheek swab, miGene™ analyzes a patient’s genes and provides individualized information to help healthcare providers select medications that better match their patient’s genes. When clinicians used miGene™ to help guide treatment decisions, patients can be up to twice as likely to respond to the selected medication compared to standard of care.
Our miGene™ report will tell you how to optimize medications now, and determine the safest and most effective medications going forward. We can also include drug-to-drug interaction information to miGene™ upon request.
More than 85% of the population has one or more serious defects in the genes coding for these enzymes. Recent research shows that genetic variation in the drug metabolizing system is the single most important factor affecting a patient's response to drugs.
“After several years of trying many medications, your test changed my life.”
Jimmy J., Tulsa, OK
“I did everything my doctor told me, but it seemed my blood pressure level was not improving. My doctor ordered miGene™, and we learned the medication I was taking was not working effectively. My doctor changed my prescription, and now I am right on target.”
Lucille P., San Antonio, TX
The miGene™ test is a clinically proven, genetic-based decision support tool that can help get patients on the right medication faster.
Finding the right medication for patients can be challenging and result in a long trial and error cycle. The miGene™ test analyzes a patient’s genes and gives healthcare providers information to help them select the medicine(s) that are more likely to work for an individual patient. miGene™ provides answers that can lead to a personalized treatment plan and faster response and remission for patients.
